“Obviously, no,” said the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in the Senate, before attending an event this Thursday to demand investments in Ceuta and Melilla, in relation to information about a possible meeting of the popular spokesperson in Congress, Miguel Tellado, at the request of Koldo García, with businessman Juan Carlos Cueto, one of the main people investigated in the alleged corruption plot regarding the collection of illegal commissions in the purchase and sale of masks in the pandemic known as the Koldo case.

In the subsequent press conference, Feijóo did not focus on this aspect and limited himself to pointing out that the Government, which “has panicked” due to the drip of information on the matter, in its first hundred days has been characterized first by the processing of an amnesty law and “everything seems to indicate that it is also now due to corruption.” In this sense, the popular leader has denounced that the alleged plot affects ministries, regional governments and reaches the third authority of the State, the president of Congress, Francina Armengol.

“The Spaniards do not deserve to see the news about corruption and amnesty in the first hundred days of Mr. Sánchez’s second term,” exclaimed Feijóo, who announced that his party “is evaluating the media reports” about the Koldo case to react gradually. “We have confirmed six ministers, two regional governments, highly trusted people from within the leadership of the PSOE and the Government,” he recalled once the summary of the case was known.

“The list is growing and there is not a single Spaniard who believes that this takes Pedro Sánchez by surprise and who does not see him in an increasingly narrow fence,” insisted the head of the opposition, for whom the president of the Government “knew what was happening and covered it up.” “On at least six occasions the Moncloa was informed of what was happening,” Feijóo reiterated in reference to the letters that a lawyer familiar with the investigation sent to the Executive headquarters to denounce the events. “It’s very serious. And it requires concrete and courageous responses and assuming responsibilities.”

In the PP’s opinion, neither yesterday nor today have the Government and the President of Congress clarified the information that has been appearing in the press, which is why Feijóo has demanded “real-time answers” ??about what is happening: “How many ministers are involved? Since when does the president know in whole or in part what has happened and why for years he hid the complaints he had about a corrupt plot in the purchase of medical supplies by the Government?, concluded Feijóo, who has not accepted questions and He has left for Congress to attend the plenary session.

Be that as it may, the president of the PP has introduced a new nuance in the accusations he has directed at Pedro Sánchez by speaking that in addition to politics there is also a “personal responsibility” in his actions.

“The main authorities cannot have a shadow of suspicion of this dimension and not answer it: what political and personal responsibility did they have in the plot that we are learning about? Everything makes it evident that he knew the facts. Don’t keep covering it up. Let him not lie, even if it is habitual for him, and say what he knows. I think that in this case the Spanish deserve to know the truth,” he exclaimed.
