Acciona already has an estimate of the amount that it will be able to recover from the Tax Agency after the recent annulment by the Constitutional Court of the corporate tax reform carried out in 2016 by Cristóbal Montoro, then Minister of Finance. There will be 30 million euros, the impact of which will be recorded in the 2024 accounts.

The figure was offered by the company’s directors at today’s press conference to present the annual results. On January 19, the Constitutional Court declared Montoro’s reform unconstitutional, which reduced the ability of large companies to apply deductions in Companies.

However, the court itself limited the scope of compensation that companies can claim from now on. The amounts may only be recovered when the various statements have been appealed or a rectification requested before the publication of the ruling in the BOE.

Acciona, which is the main shareholder of the renewable group Acciona Energía,  has avoided making additional considerations about the Government’s current extraordinary tax on energy companies. “We have not had any contact with the Government” regarding its reformulation, said the president of the company, José Manuel Entrecanales.

The infrastructure group, he explained, is now focused on “organic growth” and is not preparing large acquisitions. He is also continuing his project to commercialize a self-produced electric car through Silence. “The idea is to put the first model on the market in May or June,” said its president.

Acciona obtained a net profit of 541 million euros in 2023, 22% more than in the previous year, after increasing revenues by 52%, to 17,021 million euros, thanks to the infrastructure business, whose growth exceeded 28 % and reached a record of 7,723 million.

Its subsidiary Acciona Energía, which managed to install more than 1,700 megawatts (MW) of renewables for the first time in a year, earned 3,547 million euros, 18% less than in the previous year.
