Camilla Fayed, daughter of Egyptian tycoon Mohamed Al-Fayed, has been charged with theft after allegedly ordering her bodyguards to steal a mobile phone belonging to her little brother, Omar Fayed, from the mansion their father owns in Oxted, in the county of Surrey, United Kingdom.

From what has been learned so far, the 39-year-old daughter of the British tycoon has already been released on bail, although no statement has yet been given.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, both the socialite and her husband, the businessman of Syrian origin Mohamed Esreb and their bodyguards – the former soldiers Matthew Littlewood and Andrew Bolt – are accused of conspiring to steal an iPhone device valued at £1,900 ( about 2,200 euros, at the exchange rate) belonging to his brother Omar, 36 years old.

The four detainees were already charged with a single count of robbery in December after a lengthy police investigation. The incident is said to have taken place on May 18, 2020 at the Barrow Green Court gym, within the family’s property.

Dedicated to the world of fashion until 2017, when she sold her brand -Issa- to the British department store House of Fraser, Mohamed Al-Fayed’s daughter is dedicated to Farmacy, the luxury vegan restaurant she opened in Notting Hill . Among her clients, the singer Madonna and the designer Stella McCartney.

For years, Camilla and Omar have had a serious public dispute that has already taken them to court on more than one occasion, such as when Camila Fayed accused her brother of being a drug user, something he flatly denied.

“It is a fairly common drama that there are families with a leader who is in the twilight of life,” Omar Fayed reflected a few years ago. “My father’s wish has always been for everyone at the family level to be equal, to do what they can and contribute to organizing the fortune he has built.

Omar Fayed became director of Harrod’s at just 19 years old, after the death of his brother Dodi in 1997, something that did not sit too well with his sister. He was supposed to take over the family business in 2009, but he declined; Since then, according to Omar Fayed, his sister Camila is trying to take control, seeing that her other siblings – Karim (47) and Jasmine (44) – have zero interest in the family business.

Mohamed Al-Fayed died last August, at the age of 94, due to a heart attack. The man who was the owner of the luxurious Harrod’s department store in London and the legendary Ritz hotel in Paris is buried precisely on the grounds of his estate in Surrey, in the mausoleum where his son Dodi also rests, who died in 1997 after suffering an accident alongside to his then partner, Diana, Princess of Wales, in Paris.

Currently, the family is in a huge fight for the magnate’s inheritance. Al-Fayed’s second wife, Heini Wathen, whom he married in 1985, is the one who must divide the businessman’s empire, with an impressive real estate portfolio, several trusts, luxury vehicles and other highly coveted items.
