The music world is in mourning again. This past Thursday, February 29, the sad news broke of the death of Daniel Ulecia Leoz, music producer and bassist of the well-known Pamplona music band El Columpio Asesino, at 52 years of age.
As reported yesterday by the local newspaper Noticias de Navarra, the Spanish artist had died after fighting a long illness, which had also prevented him from being present at the last concerts of the musical group, which during 2023 was immersed in its last tour with which they have put an end to their joint musical career.
The last two concerts were held last December at the Zentral hall in Pamplona and Daniel Ulecia had to be replaced by Íñigo Cabezafuego. The news of his death has left his audience and the other members of the band completely devastated, as they had been active together for more than two decades. For this reason, the group wanted to say goodbye to their great friend through social networks, where they dedicated some emotional words to him.
”Yesterday Dani died. Surrounded by family, friends, and his cats. Dani was a person of few words and so are we today. You have given us a lot and we will miss you every second. We love you,” they wrote on their Instagram profile.
The artist was born in Pamplona in 1971 and from a very young age he was interested in the world of music. After his school studies, the Navarrese decided to move to the United States to study everything related to music at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, where he also began to develop his side as a producer.
However, his life took a radical turn in 2011 when he began to be part of the group El Columpio Asesino. During his first years as a member of the musical band, the bassist coincided with his brother, Jon Ulecia, with whom he also shared stages in the group Cantina Bizarro years before. As a producer he was able to work on a dozen albums by different groups, such as the Navarrese band Los Graves.
