In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can see in detail the folding of sedimentary layers that have come to light in Matadepera, in the Vallès Occidental, when building a house.
As can be seen in the images, these are curious symmetries and the bright colors of the earth, which have been revealed when carrying out this work.
It must be taken into account that the structure of our planet is made up of concentric spherical layers: a solid outer silicate crust, a highly viscous asthenosphere and mantle, a liquid outer core that is much less viscous than the mantle, and a solid inner core. .
About 270 million years ago, there existed on Earth a supercontinent known as Pangea (it included all the continents) that covered one third of the planetary surface. There was also a world ocean, Panthalassa, surrounding it.
The fragmentation of the supercontinent began about 200 million years ago. From this process emerged the continents (Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe and Oceania) and the five oceans (Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Antarctic and Arctic).
