This Sunday in Olot, in La Garrotxa, the typical horse parade of the Festa de Sant Antoni took place, which I collect in this series of photographs in The Readers’ Photos of La Vanguardia.

During the celebration of this event, the horses leave the fairgrounds until they reach the church of Sant Esteve, where they are blessed as is tradition.

Groups from all over the Garrotxa region participate in this festival. Horses, riders, horseball and dressage teams, as well as show jumping groups.

Every year, around this time of year, this tradition fills the streets of Olot with horses. This festival reveres the patron saint of animals, but transcends the scope of religion.

The Festa de Sant Antoni de Olot is already part of the Catalan Federation of Tres Tombs. This entity was founded 27 years ago to coordinate all the municipalities that celebrate this festival. Currently, there are 95 federated cities and Olot is the first of the Girona regions.
