Nocilla lovers cannot resist this popular cocoa cream, whatever its version. The brand’s latest launch has been cookies made with cocoa dough and filled with a creamy cream. All without palm oil, like all its products, the manufacturer highlights.
However, the original recipe has had a tough competitor, Mercadona. The Valencian supermarket chain has released an almost identical product. In this case, he has named them Cream Cookies, but their appearance, filling and size are the same.
To compare their flavors, Instagrammer Alba Tomás has done a blind tasting. The challenge: identify the brand of each of the cookies and assess which of them is tastier, although everything would indicate that they would be the originals.
Mercadona cookies cost 1.45 euros and have eight cookies in the package, unlike their competitors, which are somewhat more expensive and have only six units. Where there is almost no difference is the size, similar.
Tomás first tries Nocilla’s, which he finds very creamy and crunchy. Secondly, although without knowing it, he eats Mercadona cookies. And his verdict is unequivocal, although misguided: “The second ones are the originals. It’s very clear to me. They do look alike, but the first ones seemed a little sweet to me.”
When he discovers that he has not got it right, he is surprised, but does not hesitate to recommend the product marketed by this supermarket chain. “Much better. For me, they are great and cheaper,” she concludes.
