New attack against the civil guards of Barbate (Cádiz) who, on this occasion, have received threats from twenty people, all members of the same clan and with a history of drug trafficking, injuries, threats, crimes against road safety and against heritage.

It happened this Tuesday after some agents reproached a driver for his reckless driving through the center of the town, which gave rise shortly after to a rally in which he participated along with some family members in front of the barracks.

According to sources from the Unified Association of Civil Guards in Cádiz (AUGC), in addition to the expletives and threats made against the members of the State security forces, there were phrases such as “it had to happen to you like those at the port,” referring to the two companions who died after being hit by a drug boat on February 9.

It was around 5:30 p.m. when a Civil Guard patrol stopped a car that was traveling at high speed and urged its four occupants, all adult men, to get out of the vehicle. One of them was getting back on, almost running over an agent, which led to the first confrontation in which, according to reports, there was some struggle. However, there was no arrest; they were simply identified by the Benemérita.

Shortly after, the driver along with twenty other people, all members of the same family known to the security forces, gathered in front of the barracks, issuing threats to the agents present there. As noted by the AUGC, the incident did not escalate because the facilities had their doors closed at that time, otherwise, they say, “we would be talking about bigger problems.”

It was the Ministry of the Interior who had to confirm that no assault had occurred on the barracks, although it confirmed the incident.

The group that participated in these moments of tension is made up of a family whose members say they have accumulated several crimes of drug trafficking, injuries, threats, crimes against road safety and against property, among others and who, according to Benemérita, shouted phrases at them like “we have to kill you” and “we have weapons.”

Given this situation, as well as the long history of confrontations between agents and drug traffickers, the AUGC Cádiz has demanded permanent reinforcement in the Cadiz municipality and that it be declared an area of ??special uniqueness.

For his part, the counselor of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz, has asked the Ministry of the Interior for a “reaction now” to the situation of “maximum concern” in Barbate (Cádiz). or Almería due to drug trafficking activities.

The mayor of the Cádiz municipality of Barbate, Miguel Molina (AxSI), who called a rally a week ago where the tiredness of a city tired of being linked to drug trafficking and vandalism was evident, has once again stated that “the altercation” that took place yesterday is something that “normally happens in all the municipalities of Spain, that many families go to protest and there are small confrontations at the gates of the barracks,” he argued, while asking for “respect” when it comes to report these types of events.

“Barbate deserves respect,” he stressed, lamenting that the city has been in the spotlight for “two weeks” when events like this happen in all parts of the country.
