A 41-year-old homeless woman was found dead on March 1 in Parque de la Bombilla in Madrid, according to the capital’s emergency services.
Apparently, another homeless woman from the area found her lying on the ground and in a very bad condition that day around 12 noon and alerted the emergency services, who could do nothing to save her life.
The woman was in cardiorespiratory arrest and they performed rehabilitation maneuvers on her, but they could only certify her death, an Emergency spokesperson reports to La Vanguardia.
The woman did not show signs of violence, although she did show signs of hypothermia. Those days in the capital, the temperatures had dropped again and during the early morning, when her death could have occurred, temperatures of around three degrees were recorded.
In the capital of Madrid, there are at least 2,772 homeless people, 650 of them homeless. 50.1% have Spanish nationality, and 49.9% are foreign nationals, according to data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) at the end of last year.
