His emergence into the catwalk scene was recent, late and explosive. Alejandra Marisa Rodríguez went from a legal affairs office to being crowned beauty queen in less than four months and at the age of 60. In the first edition where the contest has no age limit, this lawyer and journalist from La Plata obtained the highest marks from the jury and won the Miss Universe sash representing the province of Buenos Aires.

”I never thought I could dedicate myself to modeling. I came to this contest because a friend suggested it to me and I can’t believe the impact it had. “I am amazed and overwhelmed,” the woman who on Sunday rose to the highest step among the 35 applicants of all ages acknowledged to Clarín.

It is not original, but there is no way to avoid the question: how to go through six decades of life without time leaving insurmountable traces on its appearance. Alejandra is used to answering: ”The key is a healthy diet, lots of fruits, vegetables – if they are organic, better – and daily exercise. Healthy diet and physical activity. Nothing that is not offered in telesales programs, but difficult to specify. ”There is surely a genetic component. My mother was always a very beautiful woman,” admits the lawyer who is now also a model.

Rodríguez was born in La Plata in 1963, and as a child lived in Brandsen, 40 kilometers west of the provincial capital. There were some ties left there and one of her brothers maintains emotional ties with the place. She shares her roots with both cities.

At the beginning of the 80s he enrolled in the Higher School of Journalism of the National University of La Plata, which is now a Faculty, and, after obtaining the degree and working for a few years in the press area of ??a public department, he entered Law. .

She carried out the profession independently, dedicated to family issues and then joined as a consultant in a hospital. She has been working there for 30 years. She loves getting up early and having the fresh morning air blow over her face. “I like the day much more than the night,” she defines.

Now, perhaps, new job prospects will open up. ”I want to focus on the national contest that will be held on May 25 in a hotel in the City of Buenos Aires. I got excited and I liked it. I learned things in this process that I never would have imagined. I am the eldest of three brothers and when I was young I fulfilled the family mandate which was to study, pursue a university degree, have a degree. But this dazzled me,” the brand new Miss Universe acknowledged to Clarín.

Obtaining a competition of these characteristics at the age of 60 is not common. ”The networks, the telephone and my surroundings are all blown up. “I can’t believe it,” he said just 48 hours after the coronation.

Miss Universe Province of Buenos Aires took place on Sunday at the Corregidor de la Plata hotel. ”We made the call in January and 67 applicants signed up,” the franchise director, Francy Lezcano, told Clarín.

The judges who chose the winners were Keno Manzur (director of Miss Universe Argentina); Elena Mateo (queen of Miss Universe Latin America) and Majo Ann (director of the specialized fashion magazine Hannale).

The person in charge has a modeling agency school in the center of the city. This year, the contest incorporated a key change: it was no longer exclusive to young people between 18 and 28 years old. Now, you only need to be of legal age. There are no more limits.

The contestants take a course in oratory, catwalk, protocol and ceremony. They hold interviews and meetings with national juries and from other Latin American countries.

To register it is necessary to make a solidarity contribution. ”This year we decided to collect supplies and overalls for picnic areas in La Plata,” reported Lezcano. And donations were also received at the election event.

Alejandra Rodríguez was chosen Miss Universe and Iris Aliotto (73) and Candela Quiroga (24) were also selected. They made up the podium. In just over a month there will be the Argentine final and in mid-2024 the ‘world cup’ will be held in Mexico City.

When the pageant’s social networks published the coronation photo, Rodríguez had to abandon his low profile and focus on the new role assigned by recent stardom. He does not plan to stop walking through the parks and squares of La Plata. She also won’t leave dinners with friends at venues and breweries, as she has done for years. But he also does not rule out throwing himself fully into this activity that he came across, almost by chance in adulthood, but still in fullness.
