The Bon Preu group, owned by businessman Joan Font, closed the 2023 financial year with a turnover of 2,259 million euros, 8.8% more than in 2022, when it earned 2,076 million euros. Sales growth two years ago was greater, at 16.5%, while profits grew at a slower rate, 5.8%, to 55.9 million, due to the company’s policy of not transferring the consumer all inflation.

The company, which includes the brands Bonpreu, Esclat, EsclatOil and BonpreuEsclat Energia, reached its investment record in 2023, with 145 million euros, 33% more than a year earlier.

A figure that has been dedicated to six openings in Barcelona, ??Lleida, Sitges, Sabadell and Tona; three complete renovations in Tremp, Piera and Sant Celoni and two new gas stations in Viladecavalls and Sarrià de Ter; as well as in some strategic projects, such as expanding the coverage of its e-commerce BonpreuEsclat Online, which already reaches five million inhabitants, or the electricity marketer.

The group is immersed in an intense expansion process. Among its projects, the construction of the new Montblanc logistics center stands out, which will allow it to double its size and expand in the south of Catalonia, where it still has room to gain commercial presence. The complex will be completed in about two years, with a total area of ??103,600 m2 and an investment of 204 million. S136 Bonpreu supermarkets; 57 Estallido supermarkets and 14 minimarkets. Through BonpreuEsclat Online it serves more than 5 million people with home delivery and 26 collection centers.

It has 60 EsclatOil gas stations, 400 charging spaces for electric vehicles, and with BonpreuEsclat Energia it supplies electricity to the entire country. Its commercial park is made up of 136 Bonpreu supermarkets, 57 Esclat supermarkets and 14 minimarkets. Through BonpreuEsclat Online it serves more than 5 million people with home delivery and 26 collection centers. It also has 60 EsclatOil gas stations and 400 charging spaces for electric vehicles, apart from the electricity marketer.

As for the workforce, it now amounts to 10,700 people. This year the group will apply a new remuneration policy with a 17% increase.
