The ERC municipal group in Paeria has denounced on social networks and in a statement that Mayor Fèlix Larrosa has ordered the removal this Thursday morning early in the morning of the yellow ribbon that had been hanging with a thread flying over Plaza Paeria for more than six years.
The spokesperson for the Republicans, Jordina Freixanet, has assured that the removal is carried out without any court order behind it and at the request of Vox, which in the plenary session last July asked the mayor to eliminate any symbol that was not official.
Freixanet has also regretted that the removal of the ribbon takes place precisely on the day that the amnesty law is approved and the same month that the “very unfair” disqualification of former CUP councilor Pau Juvillà has been confirmed, also for the yellow ribbons in the office of the Paeria.
According to Jordina Freixanet, after Vox made the request in the July plenary session, the socialist mayor Fèlix Larrosa said that he “took note” and in recent months the banner that called for the freedom of prisoners and exiles in the town has been removed. façade of the Paeria, and the image of the Spanish king has also been put back in the plenary hall.
In this sense, Freixanet recalled that a week ago the municipal government announced that it would not support any type of demand beyond those that refer to “municipal aspects.” For this reason, Republicans regret that from now on any show of solidarity from the people towards causes such as those that affect the people of Ukraine or the Saharawi will have ended.
From ERC they assure that despite the withdrawal of the yellow ribbon they hope that soon “the same town that hung it will put another one up again.”
For his part, Larrosa assured this Thursday morning that a few days ago a cable was detected without administrative authorization that crosses Paeria Square from “a listed protected building that is part of the collective imagination and that connects with another building opposite. which is where the bond was.”
“This cable does not have administrative authorization and, therefore, for security reasons, for reasons of heritage protection, instructions were given to build a file in order to stretch the cable.”
According to what he said, this Thursday, when the municipal technical services showed up to remove the cable, they saw that the truck they were carrying could not access the anchoring point of the building, especially the Paeria. For this reason, Larrosa has announced that Councilor Begoña Iglesias will contact the ERC spokesperson and ask her to allow the technicians to enter Esquerra’s offices to be able to detach the cable because it is facing her window.
“I would recommend that Esquerra Republicana calm down a little. They are constantly looking for conflict and this is not my way of working,” stated Larrosa.
