A citizen tip has allowed the National Police to arrest the prisoner from the Topas prison who had escaped this morning taking advantage of a medical consultation he had at the Salamanca Hospital, according to sources from the Government Subdelegation.
The agents had not made any public appeal with a photograph to request public collaboration, but they did show the image of the prisoner to the staff of the Salamanca Hospital to try to locate him, an image that soon began to circulate on social networks and WhatsApp.
Thanks to that image, a person identified the prisoner – who had escaped around 11:00 a.m. – in the cemetery area and notified the Police, who were able to arrest him after 4:00 p.m. on Luis de Camoens Street.
A coordinated operation by the National Police and the Civil Guard had searched for the prisoner around the Hospital and also in the area of ??the Salamanca campus.
More details of this escape are unknown at the moment, beyond the fact that it was a “routine consultation” at the Salamanca Hospital, a center that currently does not have a prison module.
