The Santa Coloma de Gramenet City Council has already started meetings with the community of owners of the c. Pyrenees 9-11 to properly manage the costs of shoring up homes. The inhabitants of the property were evicted last week due to the poor condition of the building. The council is exploring different avenues depending on whether you are an owner or tenant, and the family resources available.
The City Council announced that it will assume, on a subsidiary basis and as determined by the municipal technical reports, the cost of the shoring works for the homes. Furthermore, the council, in collaboration with the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), will support the rehabilitation of this private property to restore habitable conditions. The process will be carried out through the action model known as the Conservation and Rehabilitation Area (ACR), of which Santa Coloma was a pioneer.
From the beginning, the City Council has been committed to facilitating the relocation of affected families through the use of the municipality’s own residential resources, prioritizing the relocation of the most vulnerable families, especially those with dependent minors. The various municipal services continue to work to offer support to affected families, and a service space has been established for residents to address all queries related to this situation, covering labor, legal, educational and/or social aspects. .
The Governing Board of the AMB approved this past Tuesday, as a matter of urgency, the granting of a direct and exceptional subsidy of 400,000 euros to the City Council to address the social emergency of the people affected by the eviction of the private building. This allocation will be used to cover urgent expenses, such as relocation, transfers and food aid, among other needs that may arise.
