If the 12-M campaign were a poker game, Comuns Sumar started it with a trio with which it hopes to activate its voters and fish among the undecided: no to the fourth belt, no to the expansion of the El Prat airport and no to Hard Rock. But this Thursday, at the starting signal for fifteen days of strong public exposure, he discovered another letter. After sending a message of support to the members of the Government, the candidate, Jéssica Albiach, demanded to go “on the offensive to defend democracy.”

With the president, Pedro Sánchez, weighing his resignation in the face of accusations against his partner, Albiach stated that “it is time to stand up to the right, the extreme right and their lies.” He recalled that this harassment was previously suffered by independentists, Ada Colau, Mónica Oltra, Irene Montero and Pablo Iglesias.

Hours before, his number two, Lluís Mijoler, had a very serious fight with Vox supporters who prevented a debate organized by a student association because his party was not invited. At the top of his voice, he shouted at them: “Fascists, all you want is to end democracy and here we say enough is enough!”

The commons began the campaign in Reus, where they understand that they obtained good results in the general elections and want to drag voters to the Catalan elections, bringing together the top of the list in the four provinces. As expected, they placed special emphasis on their firm opposition to Hard Rock. “Mr Aragonès, we do not want a macro casino. In Tarragona we don’t want to gamble our money on roulette,” said the number one for Tarragona, Yolanda López.

Albiach also polarized with ERC and PSC, with whom he wants to form a progressive government, on issues such as post-electoral pacts. “If there was any doubt, Jordi Pujol made it clear who Junts is,” he insisted, referring to the former president’s support for Carles Puigdemont. “Junts is the refoundation of Convergència. We will not agree with the right, others are not clear,” he concluded.

Some surveys predict a slight advance, others that they will remain as they are, and there are also those that predict a small setback. Albiach will play his cards with the aim that the first option is the move that ends up prevailing at the end of the game.
