Lunchtime is approaching and between laughter you hear words like brother, mamita or flaco, that’s what the people of Lima affectionately call each other. The smell of the food stalls begins to fill the streets: cilantro, chili, onion, ceviche, papaya… the city baptized by Pizarro as the City of Kings becomes a hive of people offering delicious dishes to locals and visitors. Vendors appear on every corner and it is almost a sin not to try some of their dishes, many made with finger-licking family recipes.

But the city of Lima is more than food, it is also history, it is a city that lives between beautiful colonial buildings and modern skyscrapers, between historic mansions and modern establishments, a huge city and as diverse as its 43 districts. In one of these neighborhoods, Miraflores, the writer Mario Vargas Llosa lived during his youth. This coastal corner bathed by the waters of the Pacific is cosmopolitan, touristy and exclusive, and it is here where one of the best five-star hotels in the city is located, the Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel, Lima.

There is no ostentatious luxury, but it is evident that they take great care of all the details, from flowers at the entrance to fruits in the room. It has 89 spacious and comfortable suites decorated in neutral tones and simple lines, with king size beds and large marble bathrooms, many of them with privileged views of the ocean. On the eleventh floor there is a rooftop with a panoramic pool from where you can contemplate the best sunsets in the city while savoring, at The Observatory, a pisco sour, the traditional Peruvian cocktail.

For its part, the Tragaluz restaurant shows art on its walls painted by the artist Mateo Liébana, and its tables serve Asian and Peruvian fusion dishes, flavors that are mixed thanks to the creations of chef Ricardo Enhi; and its menu also offers signature cocktails made by the prestigious head bartender Fiorella Larrea.

To enjoy a good time, the Belo Bar has an extensive menu of cocktails and drinks. Wellness treatments, massages and facial therapies are also offered at the Zest Spa, which uses organic products from the Peruvian Amazon; and for those who prefer to relax their mind, yoga classes are offered. The most dynamic ones have a gym and there are bicycles available to move along the boardwalk enjoying the sun, the views and the sea.
