Pedro Rocha has been proclaimed today the new president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), after having received the support of the majority of the assembly members of this institution that governs Spanish football. This has been agreed by the Electoral Commission, meeting this morning, based on the calendar that was established for this procedure.

The 107 endorsements obtained by Pedro Rocha have become effective and, at this moment, it is time to see and exhaustively define the composition of the so-called Supervision, Normalization and Representation Commission that will accompany (tutor) the Extremaduran, at least until next fall , in his career as president of the RFEF.

Despite this decision, Rocha is still pending a possible suspension because he is being investigated for the Federation’s plot in the Brody case, after the TAD has admitted for processing the complaint presented by Miguel Galán, president of the CENAFE National Coaches Center. , against Pedro Rocha and the Management Commission.

In the next few hours, UEFA and FIFA are expected to send a letter to the Secretary of State for Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, so that he does not interfere in the process and respects Pedro Rocha’s position until the next elections that will take place in the month of September.

The management board, made up of 24 members, will also publish a statement on the TAD, maintaining that these accusations about Rocha exceed its functions.

According to Order EFD/42/2024, of January 25, which regulates electoral processes in Spanish sports federations and the electoral regulations of the RFEF, the Electoral Commission has proceeded to directly proclaim the candidate who, Immediately, he will serve as president of the entity.

The CSD Board of Directors, at its meeting on Tuesday, is unlikely to disqualify Pedro Rocha given that it did not do so at its meeting yesterday, Thursday. However, given that the TAD opened a file against him for very serious misconduct, it does not seem easy for the already president of the Federation to be able to avoid being removed from office in the coming weeks by the aforementioned body, the highest legal authority in Spanish sport.
