The activation of eight of the water cannons, the Guardian fire prevention system, designed and executed by Hidraqua and Cetaqua of the Agbar group, has contributed to the containment of the fire that occurred on Thursday afternoon in the Túria Natural Park .

The fire originated in the reed area on both sides of the Turia River and reached the Masia de Traver urbanization in the Riba-roja de Túria municipality. These forest fire prevention mechanisms made it possible to prevent its spread with the dumping of more than 218,000 liters of water for 35 minutes.

As explained by Hidraqua in a statement, the Guardian’s Sideinfo system activated fire alerts in sector 1 of Masia Traver in Riba-roja last afternoon on April 25 until ground and, later, aerial means came into action. Guardian is a system for preventive and maintenance irrigation of the areas that form the green fire protection barriers of the forest-urban interface.

Javier Anguiano, Hidraqua operations manager in Valencia and Castellón, explained that “the system in the area affected by the fire works with non-potable water from irrigation surpluses. Likewise, in another area of ??Riba-roja, Els Pous, and the two areas of La Cañada de Paterna, the water used in this system is regenerated.” Furthermore, Anguiano emphasizes that the success of controlling the fire has been thanks to the coordination with the Local Police of Riba-roja de Túria, Firefighters of the Provincial Consortium of Valencia, the Emergency Coordination Center and the City Council of Riba-roja de Túria. Túria.

The Guardian System was designed within the framework of a European project in which different entities that work together to prevent fires in the urban-forest interface participated. This initiative is led by the Riba-roja de Túria City Council, Paterna City Council, Hidraqua, Cetaqua, Medi XXI, University of Valencia, Polytechnic University of Valencia. Likewise, the Túria Natural Park of the Generalitat Valenciana collaborated in this project.
