The Jerez artist Mala Rodríguez returns to the music scene with her new album ‘Un mundo Rare’, which will be released this Friday, May 24. The Andalusian rapper, who until recently we could see on Telecinco’s Dancing with the Stars —where she played a great role—, presents her new work in Barcelona with a surprising proposal: the auction of an exclusive and private performance for a single person .

At the presentation, which will take place on Friday at the Paseo de Gràcia headquarters of the Villa del Arte gallery, not only will his new album be heard for the first time, but he will also give a press conference broadcast by streaming on his website where The artist will answer the questions raised by all attendees around the world.

The concept of his new project has a global meaning: art and value. In a world where record sales are already anecdotal, she intends to give that concept a twist and present her ‘Physical Format’ through a unique experience.

She is the product itself. She auctions herself. She is the “work of art.” And with this, she reflects on the price of art. “What is my price? The one who wants to pay for me? Or should I know myself how much I am worth? ”She tells us. Also the chosen space is a message in itself. When the proposal is to be a work of art for auction, what better place than a place where art is sold?

Starting on the day of the presentation, the auction will open for a month, where interested parties will be able to bid online to obtain “the only physical version of the artistic proposal.” The winner will spend a night in a suite at the Mandarin Oriental hotel—closely connected to the gallery where the presentation will be made—where he will have dinner with the artist while she sings songs from her album.

“It’s a pretty crazy idea,” he confesses. It is about connecting directly with the public and being able to “look them in the eyes” like never before. The proposal, undoubtedly, is original. There is no precedent for something similar, although he admits that he felt a certain inspiration when he read that two Germans had met online so that one could eat the other.

A performance transformed in his way of giving what he has to his audience, his voice. And the verb ‘give away’ makes even more sense because all the funds raised will go entirely to help the organization Save The Children. The artist believes that all her energy should go “to help reverse the situation that many children in the world are experiencing.”

She just hopes to find “someone as crazy” as her who is capable of enjoying that experience. The artist herself is so dedicated to the project that she even considered going to the winner’s own house to do the performance, so her close friends had to stop her and convince her that a hotel would be a better place. appropriate.

In ‘A strange world’ he tells us the story of a conflict that, apparently, he has already overcome. This project, which has been active since before the pandemic, has been simmering for 4 years. It took just enough time to do it. He has needed to live and digest the problems to write because “life is that beautiful and it requires time.”

The production of the album was done by Bull Nene – who has already worked with artists of the stature of J Balvin and Maluma – with whom for a time he could only connect electronically due to covid. Despite not being a well-known figure in the urban scene, Mala has loved working with him and she feels very proud to collaborate with young and emerging artists who give her “different touches and looks.”

On the cover we see an AK-47. Better said, we sense it. They have pixelated it. “They weren’t going to publish it,” she laments, saying that apparently, “violence is allowed in all spheres of existence except in art.”

With two Gold Records behind her for ‘Alevosía’ (2003) and for ‘Lujo Ibérico’ (2015), la Mala has won two Latin Grammys, making her the first and only woman to have won this recognition for best album and best urban music song. “The only woman, so you can see how dirty the world is,” she claims.

Delving into the female figure, she declares that five years ago “I thought there was no better time to be a woman” and dedicate herself to urban music. Now, on the other hand, she thinks that it is time for transsexual people and that women “have run out of time.” Thus, she asks for more sponsorship for artists and encourages trans people to enjoy the good time they have in the industry as she did at the time.
