The Bernat bookstore was the subject of an assault during the early hours of this Saturday, after having recorded good sales figures during Sant Jordi’s Day. The assailants broke the window glass and entered the establishment, rummaging through the book shelves and various materials in the bookstore, including the cash register, which was later found in the middle of Turó Parc, lying in the tree pit.

Mercedes Milà, a very active partner and promoter of the project, was in the Vall d’en Bas following the Vall d’en Bach mini-festival, run by the Fundació Bachcelona, ??when she received the news. Montse Serrano, the bookseller, had woken up finding the damage from the altercation. The thieves had thrown all the material on the floor, probably due to the possibility that the cash register contained profits from Sant Jordi day.

In fact, it had been an exceptional book day, also for Bernat, the bookstore close to Francesc Macià. “People had come so close,” Milà confirms after the short bicycle tour of the Romanesque churches of the Vall d’en Bas, listening to live Bach concerts. And all the team’s work in classifying and organizing surpluses to return to the publishers was thwarted.
