The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Israel Katz, has ordered to call the Israeli ambassador in Spain, Rodica Radian-Gordon, for consultations, and has summoned the Spanish ambassador, Ana Solomon, to the Ministry, following the announcement that Spain will recognize Palestine as a State on Tuesday, May 28.

“They have decided to award a gold medal to the Hamas murderers, who raped girls and burned babies,” the Israeli minister denounced in a statement, in which his department specified that the video of the attack will be shown to the Spanish ambassador. of the terrorist group of October 7 against Israel. “We will show them what a twisted decision their governments made,” Katz said.

“We will show you such a horrifying video of the kidnapping of the observation soldiers to illustrate the twisted decision that your governments made. “Israel will not go through this in silence: its step will have serious consequences,” he added.

Israel had also called for consultations its respective ambassadors in Ireland and Norway, Dana Erlizh and Avi Nir-Feldklein, respectively, after these countries recognized the Palestinian State, a decision that they will formalize on the same day as Spain; in addition to summoning the diplomatic representatives of those countries in Israel “for a reprimand conversation.”

In this way, Israel summons the ambassador of Spain, Ana María Salomón; and Sonya McGuiness, from Ireland; and Per Egil Selvaag, from Norway, to an urgent meeting at the headquarters of the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.

It so happens that the Israeli Radian-Gordon is about to complete her time as ambassador in Madrid, a destination that she had to abandon before the summer, and her successor in the position, Zvi Vapni, an experienced Israeli diplomat who served also as advisor on international affairs to President Isaac Herzog.

“I am sending Ireland and Norway a clear message: Israel will not back down in the face of those who undermine its sovereignty and endanger its security,” Katz had said upon learning of Norway and Ireland’s decision in a message on the social network Spain did take the same measure.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced today in the plenary session of Congress that the Council of Ministers will approve the recognition of Palestine next Tuesday, in a decision agreed upon with the partners of the coalition government and “echoing the majority sentiment” of the Spanish citizens.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre considered today that “there can be no peace in the Middle East without Israel and Palestine having their own State, it is the only real solution to the conflict.”

The same was announced from Dublin by Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris, who indicated that the recognition of Palestine as a state is an action aimed at achieving “permanent peace” between Israelis and Palestinians.
