The institutional declaration of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will go down in history. In his appearance from the Moncloa Palace, the head of the Executive announced that he will continue in office after announcing last week that he was considering resigning and that he was giving himself five days to open a period of reflection on his political future.

In the statement, Sánchez emphasizes that he will continue “with even more strength if possible” and is committed to “working tirelessly, with firmness and serenity for the pending regeneration of our democracy and for the advancement and consolidation of rights and freedoms.” He also said that his wife and he himself are aware that “the discredit campaign” against both of them “will not stop”, although he added that this “is not the most relevant thing” to finally thank “the displays of empathy” that has received these days from Spanish society.
