The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced yesterday that he would lead a democratic regeneration plan to confront the “mud machinery” after announcing that he would continue to lead the Executive. This morning, in an interview in Herrera at COPE, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Community of Madrid, responded by accusing the president of being “the mud.”
After five days of reflection, Sánchez announced yesterday morning that he would continue as President of the Government “with even more strength if possible”, and the reaction of the leaders of the opposition party was immediate. Díaz Ayuso has accused the president of acting “in the most authoritarian manner ever remembered in democracy.” “Sánchez is the mud and he is the one who has used this strategy during this time,” he added.
According to the president of the Community of Madrid, the five days that Sánchez has used to reflect after sending a letter to the citizens in which he questioned his continuity as president, have served the leader of the PSOE to try to “shred the judges, the media and the opposition”.
When asked about the complaint by the pseudo-union Clean Hands against Begoña Gómez, Sánchez’s wife, for corruption, Ayuso assured that “when the Government has been surrounded by a plot involving Ábalos and the president’s wife, they have decided to do mud”. In addition, he has accused Sánchez of “defaming Ayuso’s entire entourage from inside and outside Spain.”
The leader of the PP of Madrid has continued with her offensive against Sánchez and has assured that “she loves poor and dependent citizens.” In this sense, she has accused him of “removing autonomy” from the Communities and has defended the opposition management of the leader of her party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
Díaz Ayuso has stated that “the international press could not believe it when they learned of Begoña Gómez’s efforts”, and has continued to assure that “in all countries, governments receive criticism.” “You put up with it,” he added.
Regarding the role that the Popular Party must currently take, Ayuso has assured that “the PP must not give in even a hair”, and has invited his party to “continue to be the annoying counterweight to the Government.” Never freedom in Spain has been so at stake since 1975,” he added.
