The period of commercial opening on Sundays and holidays in the zones of great tourist affluence has already begun. Until September 15, all establishments that wish to do so and that are within zones 1 and 2 of the Special Plan for Tourist Accommodation (PEUAT), can open on Sundays and holidays from 12 noon to 8 pm.

This is the third year that the social agreement on commercial opening hours, resulting from the agreement between the City Council, the merchants’ associations, and the unions, has been implemented in Barcelona.

The measure covers businesses located in zones 1 and 2 of the PEUAT, which include the following neighborhoods: El Raval, El Gòtic, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera, and La Barceloneta (Old Town); The New Esquerra de l’Eixample, The Old Esquerra de l’Eixample, La Dreta de l’Eixample, The Sagrada Família, El Fort Pienc, and Sant Antoni (Eixample); Sants, Hostafrancs, and parts of the neighborhoods of El Poble-sec and La Font de la Guatlla (Sant-Montjuïc); The Courts; Sant Gervasi-Galvany and parts of the neighborhoods of El Putxet and El Farró (Sarrià-Sant Gervasi); The Villa of Gràcia; Health; El Camp d’en Grassot and Gràcia Nova, and parts of the neighborhoods of Vallcarca and els Penitents (Gràcia); The Baix Guinardó; The Olympic Village of Poblenou, El Poblenou, Park and Lalacuna del Poblenou, and Diagonal Mar and El Forum Marítim del Poblenou (Sant Martí).

The regulation, which will be in force until December 31, 2025, is the result of an agreement reached by the Fundació Barcelona Comerç, Barcelona Oberta, PIMEC Comerç, Foment del Treball, the National Association of Large Distribution Companies (ANGED), UGT, and CCOO in February 2022 with the approval of the Barcelona City Council. All these entities are part of the monitoring committee for the measure.
