Flooded fields in the Baix Llobregat, floods in the rivers, such as in the Ter, which carries water to the Sau reservoir, are images collected in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia that invite us to think that the worst of the drought has already passed. in Catalonia. Is that so?

The Government maintains that the rains of recent days have not reversed the drought situation in Catalonia despite the improvement in the situation of the reservoirs.

In fact, “we are still immersed in drought, a worrying drought, despite the fact that the rain has allowed the state of the reservoirs to significantly improve.”

Now, “the situation continues to improve. Since the end of last week, we have had a very important episode of rain that has not been recorded since autumn 2021.”

Despite everything, the levels of the reservoirs remain low, so the Government considers that “it is not yet time” to reverse some of the limitations and restrictions that apply.

The reservoirs of the Ter-Llobregat system, which supply Barcelona and its metropolitan area and Girona and its surroundings, have once again increased their capacity after the rains recorded these days and are at 19.28%, when last Tuesday they were at 19 %.

This is the latest update of the report on the reservoirs of the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), which shows that the reservoirs of this system currently have a volume of 117.98 cubic hectometres, although they are still below the figures of the last year (25.01% and 153.11 cubic hectometers).

On the other hand, the reservoirs in the internal basins of Catalonia have stood at 18.41% and 127.84 cubic hectometres, growing slightly compared to the 18.2% on Tuesday of last week.

The swamps are also still below the figures recorded last year, when they were at 25.15% of their capacity with 174.68 cubic hectometers of water, although there is a growing trend as a result of the rains recorded in recent days.

For reservoirs, Darnius Boadella is at 11.59% of its capacity; that of Sau is at 2.33%; Susqueda at 26.32%; Baells is at 26.10%; La Llosa del Cavall, at 20.80%; Sant Ponç, at 31.24%; Foix, at 61.86%; Siurana, at 2.63%, and Riudecanyes, at 2.60%.

The status of the reservoirs of the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation (CHE), with a capacity greater than five cubic hectometers, stands at 52%, with a total of 969.5 cubic hectometers of water, above the state of the year last, when they were at 35.71% and 665.8 cubic hectometers.
