It only takes one blink to miss the makeup trends of the moment. And it seems that the pace at which styles emerge, go viral through social networks and then start to be replaced again is increasingly dizzying. If not, tell it to one of the latest developments, known as “Spanish makeup”. A makeup that has spread like wildfire through English-speaking accounts on TikTok, especially Americans. And its peculiarity is that it is inspired by the typical makeup style of Spanish women. Apparently, that’s where the disagreements come from.

If at the time “Mob Wife” and ‘douyin’ makeup made people talk, now it is the turn of “Spanish makeup”. Because some Spanish users of the platform have spoken out about it. This is the case of Sarah Catala, whose account, which has more than 240 thousand followers, focuses on the world of makeup. “This, obviously, is not Spanish style, it is flamenco style,” she says at the beginning of a video published on her account and in which she comments on this new makeup trend. The user addresses, with a touch of humor and lightheartedness, the issue of the stereotypes that are usually perceived about Spaniards from other foreign countries, speaking from her personal experience. At the same time, she offers a tutorial on how to recreate this ‘Spanish-style’ look.

A very marked look and very intense red lips are the main focuses of attention of the viral “Spanish makeup”. The first step, as in all makeup, is to prepare the skin properly, which includes a good cleansing and subsequent hydration. This will help the face look more flattering and the foundation settle better.

Next, it’s time to apply the foundation adapted to the skin tone. In the case of Sarah Catala, the user who carried out the tutorial, decided to opt for one without high coverage. Next we have to move on to the eyebrows, since they are one of the key points of makeup. To do this, they will comb their hair upwards with a special brush. The next thing will be to fill them with a pencil and, finally, fix them.

A little concealer will be applied to the eyelids and blended, thus allowing the dark colors used to stand out more. The ‘tiktoker’ advises a cold shadow as a transition tone and marking the eyelash line in black, this will achieve the ‘eyeliner’ effect by stretching it upwards following the shape of the eye. Finish with mascara.

Next will be the concealer on key points of the face, such as dark circles. And the tanner will be applied liberally. Once everything is blended and well integrated, it’s time for blush, in a reddish color. And the icing on the cake of the “Spanish makeup” will be the red lipstick.
