Lara Álvarez is one of the most popular faces on television. The presenter has been in the world of the small screen for almost twenty years, in which she has been through numerous spaces as a reporter and as a presenter. But without a doubt the program that catapulted her to fame was Survivors. Her life took a radical turn in 2015 when the Fuencarral network announced that the Asturian journalist was joining the adventure to co-present from Honduras.
His run on the program was a success, but in 2023 he announced by surprise that he was leaving Survivors. A few weeks later, the audiovisual group revealed that Lara Álvarez’s replacement was Laura Madrueño, who has returned for the second year at the helm of the program from Honduras.
However, the big surprise came when at the beginning of 2024 the journalist confirmed her official departure from Mediaset to focus on new professional projects. ”After almost 10 years that I will always remember, I have decided to leave Mediaset to embark on a new professional path. Thank you all for your love,’ she declared through her social networks.
Now, more than two months after her departure and waiting to find out about her future professional projects, the Asturian journalist has opened up like never before about one of the hardest episodes of her childhood. A confession that she has made for the ColaCao Foundation, that she continues to fight against bullying and harassment at school. Numerous famous faces have passed through the project to tell their experiences. One of the last to do so was Lara Álvarez.
”Today I haven’t slept at all, it seems like a very important moment that I am going to share with you, it is traveling to the past, it is meeting again with a girl who, well, had a very bad time. So allow me to tell you about bullying in the first person,’ she began by saying.
The former Telecinco presenter revealed that when she was 9 years old she participated in a television contest, where she managed to come in second position. The little girl, who radiated happiness from all sides of her, decided to take the prize to Clara to show it to her classmates. ”I walk through the classroom door and suddenly no one is talking to me. I arrived so happy with my prize to share it with them and suddenly I found myself in a situation that I did not understand and the first thing I asked myself was “what have I missed and what have I done wrong,” she said with tears in her eyes. .
After trying to talk to several colleagues without success, his tablemate told him: ”Don’t talk to me, you’re going to cause a problem for me.” The 9-year-old girl went to her house sad for herself and without understanding anything. However, the situation became more complicated when she got physical: ”I remember being in the schoolyard and being hit by balls, or I remember one day when I even received stones, they threw stones. One day they stuck a piece of gum in my hair, and being followed to the front door of my house, insulting me from behind, was quite common. At 9 years old, you think that at some point they will get tired.”
One day, Lara Álvarez accidentally discovered bad news related to her mother and locked herself in the school bathroom to cry. A classmate came to the bathroom to console her and ask for forgiveness, but what the journalist did not imagine was that that same girl was going to tell everything she had told her in the middle of class. ”I break down, I start crying, I leave class and then the world stops. After this, the phone calls to my house begin with threats, “we are going to tell your mother that you have told us what is happening,” she said.
When her parents realized the situation, her mother tried to find a solution with a birthday party to which the girls who had started the bullying were not invited. ”No one came,” she said. After the summer, Lara Álvarez changed schools, but she was greatly surprised when she met one of those girls in the same class. ”It was like a nightmare. I started having anxiety attacks, stomachaches, headaches…’ she confessed.
”We can use all means, punish this girl, take harsh measures, but until you understand that you have to set the limit, this will haunt you all your life,” the head of studies at her school told her. school. A piece of advice that changed his life. ”Today, 28 years later, the only reason for sharing this whole story with you is to try to help you understand that you can get out of bullying,” he asserted.
