The positive hotel forecasts for the beginning of May have been fulfilled and most of the tourist destinations in the Valencian Community register occupancy rates above 70%. Thanks in large part to the May long weekend that residents of the Community of Madrid are currently enjoying and which has skyrocketed occupancy in Benidorm and València these days above 85%.

These are data provided by the hotel association Hosbec, which regarding the month of April also highlights how Benidorm increased occupancy by 7.9 percentage points in the second half of the month, up to 83.3%. Only the unstable weather of the first fortnight prevented it from reaching 80% in the total and approaching the 81.9% of the previous year.

As usual, British tourists prevail over the domestic market and were 46.2% of travelers, compared to 39.7% of Spanish tourists. Very far away is the Irish market, with 3.5%, Belgian (2.9%) and Dutch (2.7%).

Valencia city continues its upward trend, and registered 91.7% hotel occupancy in the last fortnight of April, with a greater variety of origins: among the international ones, the Italian market was the largest (10.1%), therefore ahead of the British (9.2%).

Much more dependent on national tourists, who represent 73.8% of the total, the province of Castellón stands at 63.6% average occupancy in the second half of April. The remaining 26.2% belongs to international tourism, led by the French market with 8.3%, followed by the German market with 2.6%, the Italian market (2.2%) and the British market (2.1%). For the first half of May it has a volume of confirmed reservations of 63%, but it is still expected that the data can be improved thanks to last-minute reservations.

Hotel occupancy in the Community as a whole has risen between 3 and 8 points in the second half of April compared to the first half, data that has allowed it to maintain a monthly average comparable to 2023.
