In a conference within the We Learn Together 2030 cycle, the psychiatrist offers advice on how to manage the current frenetic pace of life and successfully address stress, fear and frustration. Ultimately, the purpose is to prevent and healthily manage these negative states that can affect well-being.

According to Marian Rojas Estapé, a specialist in psychiatry and author of “Find your vitamin person”, it is essential to have self-knowledge and the ability to recognize our reactions to stressful situations.

According to Rojas Estapé, the first piece of advice is to be self-aware, that is, to understand who we are and how we behave: “Am I shy, sensitive, impulsive, obsessive, perfectionist? Do I worry too much about everything? Do I trust others or am I insecure?”

On an emotional level, he suggests asking yourself: “Do I suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, or do I tend to feel sad frequently?”

As he explains, when a person faces a lot of stress, they tend to become more vulnerable. In this sense, “the shy person, for example, will block himself, the impulsive person will be more aggressive, the perfectionist will experience a feeling of vital dissatisfaction because nothing will live up to his expectations,” says Rojas-Estapé.

Another aspect that the specialist highlights to control stress is the ability to lead a life that is as anti-inflammatory as possible. In her opinion, many people live with too much uncertainty and tension, which causes a state of constant inflammation in the body.

In this sense, the importance of diet stands out, since many foods have been shown to inflame the body. However, Rojas Estapé emphasizes that it is not about becoming obsessed, but about ensuring that unhealthy food is the exception and not the rule.
