The National Police has arrested a man wanted by French justice in Empuriabrava (Castelló d’Empúries). The arrested person, considered by the agents as a “dangerous international fugitive”, was subject to a European arrest and surrender order for the crimes of drug trafficking and membership in a criminal organization.

The investigation that ended with this arrest began last February when the National Police received a judicial complaint issued by the French authorities, who suspected that the person sought could be living in Spain.

The agents found him in Empuriabrava, where he was detained and placed at the disposal of the judge who ordered his admission to the Puig de les Basses prison in Figueres, waiting to be extradited to France.

In his arrest, agents from the judicial police from the Figueres police station, from the Provincial Brigade of the Judicial Police of Girona, the Sirene Office, responsible for the exchange of information and the coordination of activities related to the descriptions of the Schengen Information System, intervened. (SIS) and the location group of drug and organized crime units (Udyco).
