This Sunday the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia will be held, in elections of utmost importance for current political events. The candidacy of Carles Puigdemont by Junts is the most striking of all, in the middle of the process of managing the amnesty law that would allow him to set foot in Spain again. On the other hand, the polls show Salvador Illa’s PSC as the favorite, while the alternatives try to gain strength.

In these days of unknowns, a controversy has arisen within 3Cat, the public Catalan radio and television corporation. Ricard Ustrell, presenter of El matí de Catalunya Ràdio and Col·lapse on TV3, has received a multitude of criticism after his comments regarding the 12M debate held on laSexta. In them, he compared the product issued on Atresmedia with those produced in recent years for the group in which he collaborates.

“Much better than what has been done for years on TV3. We should take note,” he explained in the morning radio session. Likewise, he assured that he would not watch the debate that the Catalan channel will broadcast tonight starting at 10:00 p.m., and that it will have a preview at 8:00 p.m. presented by Carles Costa. In his own words, Ustrell would be busy hanging clothes in his house, hanging a painting and watching Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, also on laSexta.

Hours later, given the criticism received through multiple platforms, the presenter apologized through I apologize if anyone has felt offended. I will hang the painting tomorrow afternoon.” However, he has not been able to prevent the Consell Professional of TV3 from issuing a statement.

The body in charge of representing the network’s workers has classified the comments as denigrating: “We strongly condemn the two comments by Ricard Ustrell denigrating the electoral debate of TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio and praising that of the competition. It is unforgivable that the director of El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio and Col·lapse speaks like this about the company where he speaks and about his colleagues. We hope for rectification.”

The writing, which has more than 106,000 views on X (Twitter), accumulates more than 100 responses, many of them complaining about the statements. “Once you hear it, it makes you sad and very angry. The contempt, the tone. He does not improvise and if there is premeditation it is even more serious. We cannot ask them to respect us and take us seriously if we do not do it,” said one user.
