The Aragonese Government Council announced this Wednesday the granting of the Medal of Aragon, the highest distinction awarded by this autonomous community, to the Princess of Asturias, Leonor de Borbón y Ortíz, in recognition of her “special sensitivity” towards the land in the who is in the first of his three years of military training.
According to the decree made public today, Her Royal Highness has become “deserving of the general affection of the Aragonese people” and has shown a “special sensitivity towards our land” during her stay in Zaragoza since last summer to pursue her studies at the Academy Military General (AGM)
The regional Executive pointed out that the princess receives this distinction after completing her military training at the AGM, in the same way that happened with the current King, Felipe VI, whose granting decree dates from April 23, 1989.
They also explained that, during the official reception on September 20 of the monarch to the president of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, the head of the regional Executive already conveyed the desire to grant the Medal of Aragon to the Princess of Asturias, an offer that It was accepted by Felipe VI.
This recognition is added to the one already granted on April 25 by the Zaragoza City Council, which approved naming the princess the Adoptive Daughter of the city with the votes in favor of PP, PSOE and Vox.
