On March 22, Silvia Tortosa died in Barcelona. An unexpected death, because she was not a woman who liked to talk about her personal life. The actress said at the time that she suffered from cancer, but no one knew that, at the time of her death, she had been separated from her husband of 17 years, the producer Carlos Cánovas, for months; or that she had suffered from depression after learning of her infidelity.

A breakup after almost two decades of relationship that neither Tortosa nor Carlos Cánovas have spoken about in public. Nor after it was revealed that the actress’s will left out the producer. The one who did so was María José Zurrón, the actress’s assistant, who broke her silence and revealed that the interpreter “felt used financially” by her then husband.

Zurrón was with Silvia Tortosa the last eight years of her life, and at her side she experienced not only how the actress suffered from her illness; but also how her husband was unfaithful with her current partner, actress Marina Lozano. The actress’ former assistant and confidant reveals that she never wanted to marry the producer, that she had no need for him.

“She told me that he told her that if they didn’t get married, he would leave,” Zurrón reveals, assuring that Tortosa had “tremendous anxiety about being alone.” Therefore, she decided to marry him. At that moment, according to Zurrón, the producer changes radically. “He knew that he was the universal heir,” he adds, explaining that Cánovas had no money.

The actress’s confidant also claims that she witnessed some moments in which Cánovas would have disqualified his wife while she was working. The situation was worse, with Silvia Tortosa increasingly nervous, since the presence of Marina Lozano, her new dream, was increasingly evident.

According to Zurrón, the producer caused the actress to sink into a deep depression. “She had a brutal emotional dependence,” says the woman, who even reveals that the actress would have even thought about ending her life.

“I knew he was disinherited,” insists Tortosa’s former assistant, who reveals that she wanted him to give her compensation the day he showed her the evidence of infidelity, obtained after the actress hired a detective. A relationship that, according to Zurrón, dates back to February 14, 2019.

To prove his words, Zurrón has alleged documentary evidence in the form of four pages that would have been titled My Great Revenge. “He told me that he had to get revenge on Carlos because he had hurt him a lot.” For her, the producer only intended to “leave with full pockets.”
