The Civil Guard has arrested a 39-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of the death of a 74-year-old woman whose body was found in her home in the town of Sabiote (Jaén) with signs of violence.
The Civil Guard has told Europa Press that the detainee is initially charged with the crime of homicide and robbery. Furthermore, they have confirmed that there was no emotional relationship between the victim and the detainee.
The woman was well known in the municipality, for having been a volunteer linked to Cáritas Parroquial de Sabiote for many years, as the mayor of Sabiote, Luis Miguel López, told Europa Press.
The woman’s relatives were the ones who raised the alarm on Tuesday night when they missed this woman and saw that throughout the day, the blinds of the house had remained firmly closed. After alerting the Civil Guard and going to the home, they located Carmen’s lifeless body lying on the floor.
Scientific Police of the Civil Guard have been in charge of collecting samples from the house located at number 18 Canónigo Utrera Street, while the body, at around 5:00 a.m., has been transferred to the offices of the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML). ) for the practice of the autopsy. The woman was a widow and had four children who lived outside of Sabiote.
The Sabiote City Council has decreed two days of official mourning from midnight this Thursday until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 10 due to “the tragic death” of this woman “that occurred in the early hours of this Wednesday.
During the two days of official mourning, flags will fly at half-mast on all municipal buildings. The City Council has also shown “condolence and solidarity” to the victim’s family “for such a painful loss.”
