With more than 40 years of career and 17 albums behind them, the indie group James have become in their own right a benchmark of the Madchester sound along with bands like The Stone Roses, The Chemical Brothers or Happy Mondays, precursors of the Britpop boom that It was experienced in the 90s with groups like Oasis or the Londoners Blur.
Led since its inception by Tim Booth, the only survivor of the group along with bassist James Glennie (drummer David Baynton-Power and keyboardist Mark Hunter joined in 1988 and are still there as well), the group visits Barcelona as part of the Suite festival to present Yummy, a new work that travels along the same pop paths as the band, with cheerful keyboards and acoustic guitars to dance to while the lyrics reflect on the future drawn by climate change and artificial intelligence. Topics like Is this love or Life’s a fucking miracle will be played alongside classics from the band like Laid, Sit down or Come home with which they have sold 25 million records throughout their career.
