An archaeological exhibition reminds us of the Roman presence in Catalonia. It is about the ovens of the Fornaca de Vilassar de Dalt, in the Maresme region, which we can see in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

This archaeological site includes three Roman kilns dedicated to the industrial production of large-format ceramic material: construction material (ímbrex, tegula and bricks) and dolias (large containers).

The Roman ovens of Fornaca are a pottery that has been in operation since the 1st century AD. C. until III d. C. The kilns dedicated to the production of construction elements and large-format pieces are excavated in the clay of the terrain and constitute an industrial site unique in its characteristics.

The place name Fornaca, documented for the first time in the year 1290 in the speculum of the Vilassar castle, gives clues to the antiquity of this industrial production area.

The site is located in the Vallmorena industrial estate. There are guided tours for groups on request. The site is open to the public on the third Sunday of the month, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., free of charge and without reservation.
