In Romania they are investigating whether former Barça footballer Edgar Ié has made his twin brother play for him at Dinamo Bucharest. According to reports from the Eastern European country, Edelino, Edgar’s twin, would have played five games in his place since February, when the former Barça player signed for the Romanian team.

Journalist Daniel Sendre revealed that Dinamo Bucharest was surprised when Edgar Ié only communicated in Portuguese, despite having played in Spain, France, Turkey and the Netherlands.

The Guinea-Bissau international, after playing for Barça between 2012 and 2015, went through Villarreal B, Os Belenenses, Lille, Nantes, Trabzonspor, Feyenoord and Basaksehir.

“It seems surreal. I wondered if he was still sleeping. And I started making phone calls, talking to friends and the news is true, I can’t believe it. Nobody denied it,” said former president of Dinamo Bucharest Florin Prunea.

Furthermore, journalist Emanuel Rosu has commented that Dinamo Bucharest asked Edgar Ié to show his driving license, but the former Barça player, who made his debut with the first team under Luis Enrique, on December 3 2014, he refused to show his driver’s license.

Edelino’s career, however, is much more modest. Like his brother, he also trained at Sporting de Portugal, but most of his career was spent in the Portuguese country. His last experience was in Poland, at the Tluchowia Tluchow.

The consequences for Dinamo Bucharest could be disastrous, as the team from the capital is one point away from relegation. If this impersonation is confirmed, the Romanian team could lose the eight points it obtained in the five games that Edelino played for Edgar.

However, as a source from the Romanian Football Federation tells iAMsport, “a DNA test can decide everything if the result is the opposite. If the DNA result confirms that he is your twin brother, they should consider a defense. “If Dinamo was deceived and manages to prove it, then the risk of losing points does not exist.”
