Nearly three dozen families residing at a Vista RV Park have been served eviction notices by a nonprofit organization set to take over the property at the start of the upcoming year. The families, who have called the Green Oak Ranch home, were given until December 1 to vacate the premises.
One of the residents, John Lamb, shared his dismay at the situation, highlighting the fact that many families have lived at the RV park for years. For him, the sudden eviction notice between Thanksgiving and Christmas raises questions about compassion and empathy.
Vista Mayor John Franklin explained that the decision to evict the families stemmed from the lack of proper permits and the need for significant renovations to ensure compliance with city codes. Despite the challenges, the city has been actively engaging with the affected families, offering support services and assistance with finding new accommodations.
While some families have already found alternative housing, others are still uncertain about their future. Franklin emphasized the city’s commitment to preventing homelessness and ensuring a successful resolution for all residents involved.
On the other hand, Solutions for Change, the nonprofit organization set to take over the property, expressed interest in operating an RV park on the site in the future. However, they emphasized the importance of adhering to the law and prioritizing their core programs over other services.
The situation at the Vista RV Park underscores the challenges faced by families in transitional housing and the importance of providing adequate support during times of uncertainty. As the families navigate this difficult period of transition, community involvement and compassionate solutions will be essential in ensuring a positive outcome for all those affected.
