Florida Highway Patrol troopers were in pursuit of a man accused of committing crimes in multiple cities, and the intense chase ended in Cutler Bay. The dash camera video, obtained exclusively by 7News, captured the dramatic events that unfolded in West Miami-Dade.
The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Patrick Alzugaray, began his crime spree in the early hours of the morning with a robbery at an Orion gas station. Armed with a pistol, he demanded money from the cash register and threatened the clerk. When he found no cash in the register, he grabbed cigarettes, soda, and sunglasses before carjacking a Hyundai Santa Fe from the gas station.
Alzugaray then proceeded to commit robberies at a Shell gas station and a Marathon gas station in Miami Beach, followed by stealing the tip jar from Club Madonna. He eventually made his way to Cutler Bay in the stolen Hyundai, where FHP troopers spotted him and attempted to stop him.
Despite multiple PIT maneuvers by the troopers, Alzugaray refused to pull over and led them on a high-speed chase through Cutler Bay. The pursuit came to an end on Belgrade Road, where Alzugaray abandoned the stolen car and attempted to flee on foot. However, the troopers quickly caught up to him and apprehended him.
In the video footage, the troopers can be heard ordering Alzugaray to surrender and put his hands up. They conducted a search of his vehicle and found a 9mm gun in his possession. Alzugaray was then arrested and taken to Miami-Dade County Jail, where he faces charges of armed robbery, carjacking, and other offenses.
The swift and decisive action of the FHP troopers led to the successful apprehension of the suspect, bringing an end to his crime spree across multiple cities. The community can rest assured knowing that a dangerous criminal is off the streets thanks to the diligent work of law enforcement officers.
