Bronze, a band known for their hushed, cinematic tunes, has recently released their second full-length album, which is self-titled. The group, formed in 1999 by singer Scott McGaughey and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Ryan, has been praised for their soft-pop perfectionism and intricate studio techniques. Despite being labeled as “yacht rock,” Bronze’s music draws influences from a variety of genres, including 70s singer-songwriters and 80s new-wave and pop experimenters.
The new album, meticulously crafted over seven years, features warm analog textures and relaxed hooks that invite listeners to bask in its smooth melodies. With a stellar lineup of guest musicians, including film composer Heather McIntosh and Motels saxophonist Marty Jourard, Bronze’s sound is elevated to a new level of sophistication. The lead single, “Jewelry Is Magic,” has already garnered attention for its dusky vibe reminiscent of Phil Collins’s classic “In the Air Tonight.”
In addition to their new album, Bronze will be performing a special concert where they will play the entire record along with some surprises. The show will feature local talent such as Brett Sova, Jeanine O’Toole, and Dan Browning, among others. Opening for Bronze is Air Blue Gowns, a country-rock band with a laid-back, stoner-ish vibe.
