Last summer, Kost, a poet-director-writer-performer, was eager to create an event of their own after a nine-month tour with a children’s theater company. Seeking inspiration from their roommate, Christian Borkey, the manager of Lincoln Lodge, they toyed with the idea of a poetry reading or a comedy show. Borkey proposed combining both, and thus, Giggle Hour was conceived.
Giggle Hour, held on the first Tuesday of every month at Lincoln Lodge, has quickly become a popular event in Chicago. Marketed as “a poetry show that’s not a total bummer” on Instagram, the series offers a range of performances from stand-up comedy to rap.
