Two individuals are now facing legal charges following a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting in Cambridge. The event took place on Memorial Drive, where state troopers arrived in response to a call about gunshots near the MBTA Sailing Pavilion.
According to state police, the altercation involved two drivers who were not acquainted with each other. It is believed that Cesar Gutierrez, 65, from Revere, used a blunt object to strike the other driver, Kevin Osorio, 30, from Boston. In response, Osorio, who possessed a valid license to carry a firearm, fired multiple shots at Gutierrez. Upon examination of the scene, authorities found Osorio’s firearm and several shell casings.
Following the incident, both men were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment of their severe injuries. They are currently facing charges related to the altercation and are scheduled to appear in Cambridge District Court once they have recovered sufficiently.
The Massachusetts State Police, in collaboration with the Cambridge Police Department, swiftly responded to the situation and have since taken the suspect into custody. As of now, there is no known threat to public safety in connection with this incident.
