A cold front is currently moving from western Minnesota towards central Minnesota, bringing showers and thunderstorms along with it. The showers and storms are expected to last through the evening before moving eastward with the front. There is still a possibility of a strong to severe storm this evening, but overall, the showers and thunderstorms are expected to become widespread until about 10-11pm before clearing out to the east.
As the cold front passes through, we can expect a sudden change in temperatures and dew point temperatures. The winds, currently coming from the south, will shift to the northwest at 10-15mph overnight. Temperatures are forecasted to drop into the low 60s and upper 50s behind the cold front, removing the mugginess from the air and providing a comfortable overnight.
Tomorrow, with winds coming from the northwest at 10-15mph, the weather will feel quite different from today. Expect a comfortable day with high temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. There may be some partial sunshine in the afternoon, and any scattered showers from the system today should be gone by around noon. Overall, tomorrow is expected to be a calmer day compared to the past week.
Tomorrow night, lows will be near 60 with north winds at around 10mph. However, rain and storm chances will return on Thursday as a warm front approaches from the south. Highs will reach the mid 70s and lows will stay in the mid to upper 60s as the warm front moves through, bringing widespread showers and storms late morning through the afternoon. The rain chances are expected to continue through Saturday, but a break in the weather is anticipated by Sunday.
