Yahya Abdul-Mateen II Set to Star in New Netflix Series
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been announced as the lead actor in Netflix’s upcoming thriller series, “Man on Fire.” In addition to starring in the series, Abdul-Mateen will also serve as an executive producer, alongside director Steven Caple Jr.
The series is based on the first two novels by A.J. Quinnell, which follow the story of former French Foreign Legion soldier John Creasy. This is not the first adaptation of Quinnell’s work, as the character of Creasy has previously been portrayed by Denzel Washington and Scott Glenn in film adaptations.
The plot of the Netflix series revolves around Creasy, a once skilled Special Forces Mercenary who is now struggling with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, Creasy embarks on a journey of redemption, only to find himself back in the midst of danger and conflict.
Abdul-Mateen is best known for his roles in HBO’s “The Watchmen” and the “Aquaman” film series. His impressive resume also includes appearances in popular Netflix series such as “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and “Black Mirror,” as well as roles in movies like “Candyman” and “The Matrix Resurrections.” The talented actor is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney+ series, “Wonder Man.”
Steven Caple Jr., known for directing “Creed II” and “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” will be at the helm of the first two episodes of “Man on Fire.” The series will be produced by a team of industry veterans, including showrunner Kyle Killen and executive producers from Chapter Eleven, New Regency Productions, Chernin Entertainment, and RedRum.
With an exciting cast and production team behind it, “Man on Fire” is sure to be a thrilling addition to Netflix’s lineup of original series.
