‘Dexter’ Prequel Series Adds Four to Cast as Production Begins
The highly anticipated “Dexter” prequel series, titled “Dexter: Original Sin,” has officially started production in Miami, adding four new talented actors to its cast. James Martinez, Christina Milian, Alex Shimizu, and Reno Wilson are set to join the show as series regulars, alongside previously announced leads Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, and Molly Brown.
Set in 1991, 15 years before the original “Dexter” series, the prequel will follow Dexter (played by Gibson) as he navigates his transformation from a young student to a vengeful serial killer. Guided by his father, Harry (portrayed by Slater), Dexter adopts a Code to carry out his dark deeds without attracting the attention of law enforcement. The series will explore Dexter’s early days as he embarks on a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department, with Brown starring as his sister, Debra Morgan.
Martinez will take on the role of Angel Batista, an ambitious homicide detective known for leading with his heart. Milian will portray Maria LaGuerta, Miami Metro’s first female homicide detective, while Shimizu will bring to life Vince Masuka, a forensic analyst who takes pleasure in mentoring his new intern, Dexter Morgan. Lastly, Wilson is set to play Bobby Watt, Harry’s trusted partner and confidant, introducing a new character to the series.
