HFStival Teases Return in 2024

HFStival, the long-dormant, yet supremely iconic Washington, DC-based alt-rock music festival, looks to be making a comeback in 2024. Today, the social media accounts for both the 9:30 Club and Nationals Park in Washington, DC indicated the festival would return on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at Nationals Park.

Organized by the great alt-rock radio station WHFS (R.I.P.), the original HFStival ran between 1990 and 2006. At its peak, it was the largest music festival on the east coast, drawing up to 90,000 attendees annually, with lineups headlined by the likes of **Rage Against the Machine**, **Red Hot Chili Peppers**, **Foo Fighters**, **Green Day**, and **Eminem**.

After WHFS flipped formats and became a Latin pop station in 2005, one final HFStival was held in 2006 before the event went on an indefinite hiatus. The festival was briefly revived in the early 2010s with a pair of scaled-down events at Merriweather Post Pavilion, before again going on hiatus in 2012. Consequence has reached out to 9:30 Club’s representatives for more information.

The return of HFStival in 2024 has sparked excitement among music fans, who have been eagerly anticipating the revival of this legendary music festival. With a history of hosting some of the biggest names in the alternative music scene, the 2024 edition of HFStival promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for attendees.

As the countdown to September 21st, 2024 begins, music enthusiasts are already buzzing with speculation about the lineup and what surprises the organizers have in store. Stay tuned for more updates on HFStival 2024 and get ready to rock out at Nationals Park next year!
