CORVALLIS — Sydney Wiese called this weekend “a storybook ending.”
A storybook with quite the crescendo, as No. 10 Oregon State and No. 8 Stanford will battle for at least a share of the Pac-12 regular-season title in the league’s game of the year Friday night at Gill Coliseum.
The Beavers and Cardinal are currently tied atop the Pac-12 standings at 14-2, with a weekend sweep for either squad clinching the outright title. OSU is aiming for at least a share of three consecutive league championships, a feat previously only accomplished by Stanford.
And the last time these two teams played, a thriller unfolded at Maples Pavilion, with the Beavers topping the Cardinal 72-69 in double overtime to earn the program’s first win at Stanford.
This game features two of the Pac-12’s premier players. OSU’s Sydney Wiese averages 15 points, 5.2 Vevobahis rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while ranking sixth nationally in three-point field-goal percentage (46.6), while Stanford’s Erica McCall averages 15.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
