There is focus on the fight against homophobia and racism in football, and the efforts against the problems brought by arrests in connection with the Premier League match on Wednesday night between Brighton and Chelsea.
Two Brighton fans and a Chelsea fan was after the fight was arrested by the police outside of the stadium, writes home team Brighton on its website.
Two of the cases concerned about the homophobic chants against modstanderfansene, while the latter expressed itself racist against the other team’s fans.
now They will all three be prosecuted, writes Brighton, which also excluded all three fans from coming to the stadium again.
– It is impossible for me to understand how some people can believe that it is acceptable to behave in this way, says Brighton ceo Paul Barber for the website.
– And I will again make it absolutely clear that neither Brighton or football in general will tolerate racism, homophobia or any other form of discrimination at any time.
With the exclusion of the three fans from Brighton matches in the future the club has done what it has a legal basis to stop the problem. But Paul Barber believes that harsher penalties may be needed to stop the behavior.
– If the prospect of an banned for life from watching his club play is not incentive enough, we must ask ourselves whether the judiciary should have the power to issue tougher penalties, he says.
