Exhausted, frustrated, confronting private risks and political pressure, people wellness officials nationally are leaving their articles at a speed never seen before, also at the center of a pandemic.
More than 180 local and state public health leaders — large level health division staffers in at least 38 countries — have resigned, retired or been terminated since April 1, based on an investigation from Kaiser Health News and The Associated Press. “Finally it came down to feeling as though I was not capable to perform the job I was hired to perform.”
