The landscape of sports betting in the United States continues to migrate closer towards a digital product in many parts of the country, with this week’s updates reflecting the industry’s positive trend.

Connecticut Solidifies Online Casino, Sports Betting Agreement

Online gambling and sports betting has finally been approved to open business in Connecticut after making official its agreement with the state’s two federally recognised Native American tribes.

As with many states, the gambling rights in Connecticut have been conjoined with the interests of its tribes. In this case, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and the Mohegan Tribe, who control the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard and the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, respectively.

Overcoming this hurdle opens the pathway for further gambling business—both online and in-person—in the Constitution State, promising big returns in revenue. Online operators will be taxed at 18 percent for the first five years, rising to 20 percent after that.

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont praised the deal amid reports his state promises to profit in the hundreds of millions from the move, adding:

>“It’s something that all of our neighbors are doing, and Connecticut’s gonna play. I think it’s a way to bring our cities and towns back to life, represents some real revenue for the taxpayers.”

Michigan Launches BetMGM Poker to Complete Company Trifecta

Michigan has tripled down on its partnership with BetMGM Michigan betting site after the company confirmed The Great Lake State will become the second to facilitate its poker outlet.

Poker players in Michigan will be pleased to see more competition enter the market, especially a respected name in the industry like BetMGM Poker, operated by the partypoker US network.

This news follows the January announcement that both BetMGM’s casino and sports betting branches would open for business in Michigan, and company chief executive officer Adam Greenblatt said the move “fully rounds out our premier gaming portfolio in the state.”

PokerStars was the first to open its tables for Michigan customers in January of this year, giving another of the market’s major players a two-month head-start in the state. However, the addition of BetMGM in that race should make the field a much more competitive one, beginning with a Grand Online Series event in April which will culminate with a $100,000 guarantee finale, reported Usa News.

Golden Nugget has made a major step in extending its influence in one of the most prominent gambling states after launching a mobile sports betting solution in conjunction with Scientific Games Corporation.

Streamlining the user experience to mobile, users will benefit from the full integration of the OpenSports product suite, including an iOS app that will feature a full complement of Golden Nugget’s betting markets. Michigan has already signed up with Golden Nugget to offers OpenSports and OpenGaming mobile platforms in the state, while Pennsylvania is expected to follow suit at some point in 2021, reported USA Today.

Thomas Winter, the president of Golden Nugget Online Gaming, said the company official expansion in Michigan has been a positive one, adding:

“As we expand together across the U.S., we are delighted to enter the next phase of our partnership in New Jersey, where players will be able to enjoy an upgraded betting experience and advanced product features such as Bet Builder, Parlay Boosts, Daily Enhanced Odds (Golden Lines, Notorious Vig), Quick Parlays, Same-Game Parlays, Cash Out and promotions such as Next Bet On Us!”
